guys are afraid of showing their weakness because it attacks their masculinity. For a long time, guys have been expected to hide their emotions. You’ve heard the saying “boys don’t cry” right? So I guess guys feel emasculated when they show weakness…

pride is important for everyone to value what he/she has. if you have no pride you won’t have anything to protect. example, if you’re proud of your partner, you won’t ever want to let go of him/her. and ego and arrogance are something different.
there are different meanings of pride, such as pride in oneself and pride the sin. I think she was referring to pride in the latter sense. In which case, I think the reason why a person in a relationship would have too much pride may be ultimately attributed to their insecurity…

I don’t think it’s specifically important to a guy. I think both sexes overvalue it. Everyone wants to be right, to be infallible. Everyone’s insecure about some thing. I guess essentially, people are afraid to show their weaknesses… You could also go on to say that it’s linked to one’s self-worth, identity and position in a social ladder…
